We’re getting a lot of interest in the Macho Rhino Bowl since announcing it earlier today. I thought I’d go ahead and create a page I can update throughout the day to keep you aprised of the status of our proposal to Notre Dame and UCLA to compete in the inaugural Macho Rhino Bowl.
Yesterday I was thinking about the bowl season and after looking at some bowl projections I saw there will be teams not getting bowl invitations but are bowl eligible. So I decided to create a “start-up” bowl, the Macho Rhino Bowl. I’d like to hold it here where we’re headquartered in Columbia, MO. I know it’s a long shot to get two great programs like Notre Dame and UCLA to agree to a new bowl game especially since it isn’t sanctioned by the NCAA. However I hold out hope they will and this bowl game can come together and eventually the Macho Rhino Bowl will be an NCAA sanctioned bowl. I’m an enterprising person. I love a challenge and this is the biggest challenge I’ve taken on but am up for it. I want this bowl to happen!

No word from either team. Apparently these programs would rather not reassemble their teams for this awesome bowl opportunity. Apparently Manhattan, Kansas and Winston-Salem are too hopping this time of year to get away from for a week to play football. So I’m taking it up a notch with this and will make these teams regret not responding to our exclusive invitation.

The deadline has passed for Michigan and UCLA to accept the invitation before we would open it up to two additional teams. We now have less than 48 hours. We need to have a finalized match-up by Noon ET on Tuesday, December 8. We’d now to like to issue invitations to the Kansas State Wildcats and Wake Forest Demon Deacons. These two teams will make for an outstanding game. E-mail us to accept ASAP teams!

We’re just over 24 hours away from the deadline for UCLA and now Michigan to accept Invitations to play in the Macho Rhino Bowl. Rumors have the Bruins waiting to see how things shake out today on Championship Saturday before deciding on a bowl invitation. For Michigan, I’m sure our invitation came out of the blue and they’re starting to analyze today after having shut down two weeks ago for the season. Hopefully they can get the team together and decide to accept. If not, we’re prepared to move forward and make this bowl happen. I know with our announcement earlier this week of the Macho Rhino Bowl, several college football teams have hope for a postseason game. So keep hope alive teams just in case UCLA or Michigan don’t decide to play in the Macho Rhino Bowl.

Word has come down from Notre Dame Athletic Director, Jack Swarbrick, that the Irish will not be playing in a bowl game. Wow rejection hurts. I was counting on the Irish to be part of this game. It’s not going to be easy to replace ND in this game. Not many schools can bring the name recognition, tradition, fan base and interest in their program like Notre Dame. I have found a team I’d like to make an offer to though. Now that Notre Dame has declined, I’d like to officially invite the Michigan Wolverines to the Macho Rhino Bowl. E-mail me at bowl@machorhino.com Wolverines and let me know you accept ASAP! With Michigan and UCLA we still have a tremendous match-up that brings prestige to this bowl game.

Still no word from either school on agreeing to play. I’ve made a list of five teams to replace the competitors if they don’t accept. Losing Notre Dame would be a loss but I’ve got a comparable program I’d like to invite if they decide against playing in the first ever Macho Rhino Bowl.

Just read an article from ESPN that stated Notre Dame most likely will not accept a bowl invitation this year. With that news, I’ve begun working on a contingency list of teams I think we can have a great match-up with UCLA.

Still no word from either school on the invitation. I’m hoping word has reached South Bend and LA and they’ll be mulling their options. If not, we’re prepared to move forward with one or two new teams.

No response from either school yet. People are seeing the announcement so hopefully word will spread and we will make this happen. Tell your friends about the Macho Rhino Bowl.
What a bunch of crapola…the listing of your all Americans and the audacity of proferring a 35th bowl (yikes; already twice as many as we want or need). Sheer crap.
