Girls love bathing suit season, not all of course, but I would go ahead and say from childhood to their thirties, girls and women can’t wait to buy that new bathing suit to show off their sense of style, bodies, and how much money they can spend on a tiny piece of cloth.
If you are a guy, you may not understand the complex moment when a woman finds THE SWIMSUIT and what it means to have found it. It could be described as a similar moment to finding THE RIGHT MAN. A swimsuit is something women wear for the man or men. They also wear it for other women, not in the same sense as they do for men, but it all comes down to the same thought, “This one will show me off just right”. After all, bikinis were partly invented for the important purpose of showing of a woman’s body and to invoke confidence in herself and jealousy in others.
So what does the swimsuit say about the woman? What is she looking for in a response from a man? We, (women), get all flustered and act annoyed when the guys whistle or cat call, but I mean aren’t we asking for it when we are wearing tight, eye catching, minimal coverage? I think so.
A woman that wears a string bikini, strings and triangles, has confidence and wants to be looked at. Her body is usually something enjoyable and a taste of “eye candy”. There are those who may be considered unfit to wear the teeny tiny bathing suit, but it shows that woman to be at ease with her. You don’t walk out of the door with barely any clothing and not think, “I look good”. It’s cool with these women if they are being checked out, after all, why do you think they photograph women in bikinis for calendars? Those women are hot and they deserve to be looked at and they want it.
A woman in a tankini, tank top with shorts bottom or simple bathing suit bottom, is more comfortable being covered up. This isn’t to say she is less confident, she may simply just feel better with a little more cloth on her. Also, these were a style thing for a while. They were the “IT” things to wear for many women, skinny or not. This woman could be trying to hide something or simply just be happier not flaunting it all out there.
The last but certainly not least is the one piece. In years before the one piece has been considered the least flattering bathing suit and one only for conservatives and mothers. Even I, in my sheltered thoughts, found it the least attractive of the swimsuits, but not anymore. These sexy, sliming, formfitting suits may cover skin but they leave a little mystery as well. Yes, there are those women who wear the once piece because they are not comfortable in their skin and in order to go swimming they have to wear something, but places like Victoria’s Secret have given the one piece a new type. There may be more covered but with the new designs of a plunging neckline, open back, see through stomach fabric, the one piece is for a sexy, classy, and mysterious woman. She is just as confident and wants just as much attention as the other two. It is a more mature style that can leave men panting and only wanting more, which is the goal of all three swimsuits.
Women know what they are doing when they pick their suit. We want to be looked at, we want to be admired, and we want to be seen. That doesn’t mean go for the nasty pick up lines, but enjoy that we are displaying our bodies for not only your enjoyment, but also ours.
